Is it important to care for my hair?

My hair journey was catastrophic until I understood how important it was to care for my hair. Throughout all my childhood, my mother would do my hair. She would braid it or relaxed it and I liked that, until my last year in high school I got tired of the pain of the braid, so I stopped doing anything to my hair, I just left them be. I didn’t have any specific hair routine, I would just wash my hair with a basic shampoo and that was it. I started experiencing hair breakage, so I guess I had to learn the proper ways to care for my hair.

That’s where it got complicated. The hair care industry for coily hair was not as developed as it is today, there were only a few. The few tutorials I found about curly hair was about making your own products by mixing powders with oils and leaving the mixture all night on your hair. I honestly was too lazy to do that, but I found a brand which had the shampoo, the mask and conditioner ready so I tried it. After washing my hair regularly using this brand for 6 months, I decided that it was not working and I gave up. I found another brand, I tried it and gave up. I did that for several years. Today, I am more consistent when I care for my hair and I found a brand that works wonderful on me. It’s Pattern. I’ve been using it for 3 years now and I’m telling you I won’t change it any time soon, so yeah it matters how you treat your hair. As I learned over the years, we all have different hair types, what works on others may not work for you but don’t give up, like Tony Robbing says “what you focus on, you attract”, at some point you’ll get what you’re looking for.
